Aiden is 4 years old!

My sweet baby turned 4 on Tuesday.  And even though I know he's not a baby, my brain can't get rid of the idea that he'll always be little.  Maybe because he was born smaller and went straight to the NICU where he got even smaller and seeing the tubes in him made me more protective of him?  Or maybe it's his sweet, calming personality or his sensitivity with others as well as with stuffed animals...I don't know but we really love him.  With only 3 months left before another baby comes into our home, I can already start to feel myself getting nostalgic for Aiden being the "baby."  And maybe since he's our youngest boy, I'll always just think of him as my baby boy.

Tuesday started out with Aiden opening a couple of his presents as well as breaking out this huge caterpillar.  When I say huge, I mean it's 10' long.  He fell in love with it at the store and when I went to buy it a while later, the bug just kept coming and coming out of the bin.  I had no idea it was so huge but he was so cute with it and I knew he would love it so I couldn't resist.  That thing gets carried around the house all day long and it's quite comical seeing him try to get it around.  It has to weigh more than he does.

For lunch, Aiden picked Pizza Hut as the restaurant of choice(a boy after my own heart) and then we came home to open presents.  The picture below is a little toolbox Jon built him since the boys have been more and more interested in helping daddy with projects.

Aiden is not the kind to just open a present and move on to the next one.  He wants to open each present and then play with said present for a little bit before going onto the next one.  So that took a little time, which I'm totally fine with, and after some more playing time and dinner, we had grandparents and a few cousins over for cake and ice cream along with opening a few more gifts.

I was going to make a homemade cake but realized that 1) I didn't feel up to it because I've been pretty tired lately, 2) Aiden has been begging for all the cakes at the grocery store and I thought he would have fun picking out his own.  Which he did.
That sweet smile does me in

The night ended with adults talking, kids running and playing outside and Aiden playing with his toys by himself.  He likes to be social but he's not a fan of large groups of kids so in those cases, he tends to be perfectly content having all the toys to himself while the others run around.

A few things about Aiden:
-As mentioned, he LOVES stuffed animals and calls them his best friends.  His bed is packed full of them and I love seeing him cuddle with them.

-I asked Aiden what his favorite thing to do is and he said it was to play with toys.
-His favorite cartoons are Gummy Bears, Chip and Dale, Little Einsteins, Pokeman and Care Bears
-He loves to color
-He's very sensitive to other's feelings so if Patrick is having a hard time or wants to play with something Aiden has, Aiden is the first to give in and hand the toy over so that Patrick is happy.  Or if the boys do something to get in trouble, Aiden will try to take the blame so that his brother doesn't get the punishment.  Also, when we leave the house he has a hard time leaving his stuffed animals because he doesn't want any of his "friends to be feel left out or lonely."  Seriously, this little boy pulls at my heart strings all the time.
-He loves to laugh and play
-If he spills or makes a mess, he has a hard time cleaning it up.  Especially if we don't help him because he always says he, "can't do it alone."
-He loves to wrestle with dad
-He hates picking up toys
-He's a mommy's boy
-For the most part, he has a laid back personality
-I don't think even he knows his favorite food but I know in the morning he loves eggs.  Or on days like today, he wants them for breakfast, snack time and lunch

Man, I just love this little boy.  He is my buddy and I've mentioned before that he's my calming force.  His little spirit has brought me peace from day 1 and I can't imagine life without him.  Obviously I can't imagine life without any of my little family but we are so grateful for his little personality in our life.  He's a good one and I'm really lucky that I get to be the one he calls mom.
